I had read at another forum that eBay was going to end the use of templates and also not letting any one use the words primitive or antiques in the title and if you do your auction would be pulled. Does any one know if this is true or not?

Liz I haven't heard that-wonder if it just another rumor by someone trying to give EBay a bad name-try emailing Ebay see if you get a response.

Liz i know that we can not list under the antique primitive catagory anymore. they are suggestion art... and there is a catagory for primitive folk art.
The new category for us is "Art>Direct from the Artist>Folk Art and Primitives.
Templates : can't be sold on ebay if you email the template. So far it is just rumor that we can't use them. that is my understanding from reading. I think folks are forseeing what they think will happen.
NOW the primitive word in title. According to ebay when we use primitive we are spamming that word. BUT i am going to continue to use it and if they pull my auctions i will fight them tooth and nail cause primitive is a style and a description of what we do. let me see if i can find the quote brb
Here it is " have just posed the question to Christian on LiveHelp, who confirmed that primitive would be considered keyword spamming because it is already a descriptive term. He/she then promptly referred me to the Trust and Safety link, as well as the link for the keyword spamming policy.

So in turn,,, instead of the word primitive what word does one use? I have read on other sites using the word prim but that also may have the same effect of spamming. Seriously... this isnt going to be easy!! For me at times I find it hard enough just writing a description of my listing then you take words away from me!! yikes!!! deb:rolleyes:

HI DEB!!!!!!
You know at this point i am using the word primitive. In the title we are to use descripive words and it describes what my object is. I know soon we will get hit with using our group initals and when that happens all stuff is going to hit the fan. The next 2 months will be interesting to say the least. Right now there are still alot of digital things being offered on ebay and some from people know are aware of the changes.

This is just another example of why I won't be using eBay. There are reasons, like the fact that they've suspended me for supposedly being associated with a suspended member at my addres - HELLO I live in an apartment complex, we all have the same address just a different apartment number. When I asked for details of the person so I could PROVE that it wasn't me they said that it was against their privacy policy. And now all of this! I'm done with eBay. I've had more problems with eBay than good experiences......

I sell on Etsy. I haven't had any problems. I have never sold on Ebay before and after hearing all of this stuff, I won't be.

I hadn't sold on ebay in awhile, but after everything that I have seen and dealt with lately, I have decided to not sell on there anymore. I never really made much off of there anyway, and now with the raise in percentages, I DEFINITELY don't make what I should. I just opened an etsy store for my boutique site, but I haven't had time to really fill it yet. Hopefully, it will do well though! I am thinking about opening one for my Lovable Raggs site as well because I figure it can't hurt, right? Especially since it's free to open and cheap to list items.

WOW- I really have been out of the LOOPY...... I can't believe the regulations they are putting upon ebay- I haven't seen the changes on listing prices and such, will have to look it up.
How about instead of PRIMITIVE- We go with GRUBBY-GRUNGY-AGED TO PERFECTION-ATTIC-PRIM.
I tried doing ETSY, but just can't give all of my sites the time they all need, so I backed off. I am still soul searching but will hang in there.

I think I'm gonna try in a couple of weeks. My hubby is off all of next week for vacation so I have no clue what next week is going to be like. I'm liking the looks of etsy though.
