Slap a kid silly...

This goes against my Christian morals..but did you somedays just wanna take a smack outta someones kid? LOL - I'm sorry - but I can't help myself...maybe some older Moms could help me with this one...let me 'splainnnn

I went up to meet my little guy for lunch at his school today...and we are on the lunch line and this little boy is in back of us..I tried offering for him to go ahead of us..but he insisted on being the caboose...ooh well..back to my story...well this little lovey proceeds to insist on informing me and my son that there is NO SANTA...he's just a man dressed up in a red coat and a white beard. And that his Mom and Dad are the ones who buy him presents...sooo of course having to recover for my son's sake..I gave him the oldest one in the book.."if you don't believe in Santa - you don't get any presents", well this little lovey had a come back for everyone I could pull out of my sleeve. I just wanted to smack him but good. Then if that wasn't bad enough..the little lovey in front of us gets wind of our conversation..and she decides to add to the conversation agreeing with lovey number 1. That yes, indeed there ISN'T a Santa...did you wanna know how she knew? - so of course being polite I say..tell me..and she proceeds by telling me..that she's getting an air hockey table TODAY - because her family goes on vacation for Christmas..and so her Mom and Dad who also buys her LOTS of presents will give them to her tonight..because they are leaving for vacation.

All the while my little sweetie..(with horns most days - don't let me fool ya) - is standing there looking at me with this look - like Mommy this can't be...and of course having to defend and keep his childhood sacred...I INSIST - well in our home..if you don't believe you don't get..PERIOD!!!! All the while - visions of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle is playing out in my mind...

Well...just had to get that off my chest...I just don't know what makes people do what they do today...do I blame these children..heck no...it's the parents fault...now why in our Good Lord's name would you want to take away the innocense of our children a day sooner then necessary is what I want to know.

Anywhooo I'm rambling....ok..girls...I'll zip it for now..

Hugs,

Kim

I agree with you Kim... children's innocence should be valued and protected for as long as possible. Something that's very hard to do in this day and age. You deserve a medal for trying to keep your child's!!

I know it's very hard to keep Santa in your kids, when they go to school. I ran into the very same thing when my Amy (oldest) was 8. She came home crying, telling me that someone told her there is no Santa.
I could never lie to my kids, so I told her it's the "spirit" of Santa that she needed to keep in her heart. We had a much longer conversation, not sure what else I said, but I assured her if she kept Santa in her heart, there would be presents on Christmas morning. She went away with a smile.
